ABOUT US

Viet Nam Logistics Research and Development Institute (VLI) is the first Science and Technology organization of the Logistics industry and international in Vietnam, established on November 1, 2010 under Decision No. 21/QD-VIFFAS; Certificate of registration of operation: 242/DK-KHCN. The current Director of the Institute is Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa. Our team of more than 50 domestic and foreign experts has successfully implemented many consulting projects for the development of the Logistics industry.

The term urban logistics is still new in Vietnam, due to the lack of research and consideration of urban logistics in transportation planning in urban areas of Vietnam. However, Vietnam has faced serious problems with urban logistics in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – two of the most densely populated cities in the country. In many projects, VLI has conducted in-depth analysis of urban logistics challenges such as congestion, traffic problems, last-mile delivery, focusing on Ho Chi Minh City. In the project “Developing the logistics industry in Ho Chi Minh City to 2025, with a vision to 2030”, VLI has thoroughly studied the existing problems of Ho Chi Minh City logistics and proposed solutions to develop a logistics center system in 7 locations with a total area of about 270-623 hectares as well as minimize traffic system overload, etc.

In the project “Research on modeling logistics centers connected to multimodal transport networks – a case study for the Southeast region (Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces)”, VLI has analyzed in depth the shift of multimodal transport networks to the operations of logistics centers and the factors affecting the formation of logistics centers, thereby providing effective solutions to improve the connection of the transport network with logistics centers and reduce logistics costs in Vietnam.

VLI has also conducted a “Feasibility Study for the Southern Vietnam Transport and Waterway Logistics Project” focusing on the Cat Lai area – one of the most important ports in the South. Through this study, VLI has been able to provide solutions towards the strategy of developing a multimodal logistics system connecting the East-West and North-South corridors in the most effective way.

In addition to the above projects, VLI has achieved many achievements in other projects targeting other challenges of urban logistics in Vietnam such as: Enhancing the skills and expertise of ASEAN transport operators in implementing simplified and efficient ASEAN transport facilitation procedures -TF-6; Overview of Vietnam logistics industry, analysis of impacts, global trends, career paths and issues related to logistics human resource development in Vietnam; advising the Ministry of Industry and Trade on developing a logistics services export strategy; advising VLA on the Action Plan for Capacity Building of Vietnam logistics services industry; playing a coordinating role in dialogues on cross-border transport through regional economic corridors.

All things considered, VLI has demonstrated its experience and knowledge in emerging areas such as urban logistics. With 10 years of experience, VLI has witnessed and contributed to the initial development of Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Vietnam, thereby affirming our position as one of the leading agents in consulting, research and special training services.

VLI provides training courses on international Logistics certificates FIATA DIPLOMA including: FIATA Diploma In International Freight Forwarding and FIATA Higher Diploma in Supply Chain Management, and professional courses, skills in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
