Developing seaports in a modern and smart direction

(BD) – On the afternoon of July 16, the Provincial Science and Technology Council held a meeting to accept the research project on solutions to promote the application of technology in the field of seaports in a modern and smart direction for enterprises in the province, chaired by Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Huu Ha.

The topic is chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa (Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute – Vietnam Logistics Business Association).

With the aim of providing an in-depth view of the socio-economic development of Binh Dinh province in the seaport sector, the project has conducted an overview of the current situation and prospects for the application of advanced and smart technology at seaports. The research not only outlines a panoramic picture of the seaport services market, including supply and demand and policy mechanisms regulating business operations, but also focuses on identifying trends and challenges for the development of this sector.

Regarding the ability to apply research results to production and business practices, the research team has proposed a list of modern and smart technologies for typical seaport services such as dry warehouse loading and unloading, improving labor productivity, improving the quality of seaport services and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises. By providing methods and tools for evaluating technology selection suitable for the core activities of enterprises, the topic helps enterprises in the seaport industry choose effective technology solutions to meet the needs of sustainable development.

During the implementation period of the project, the research team has completed the committed products, especially the report on assessing the need for applying modern and smart technology in the seaport sector of enterprises in the province; the report proposes a method for evaluating and selecting modern and smart technology in the seaport sector in Binh Dinh – analyzing and proposing criteria for evaluating and selecting modern and smart technology in the seaport sector; the report proposes a list of modern and smart technologies with some typical seaport services – surveying modern and smart technologies currently in use in the seaport sector in the world and the report proposes solutions to promote the application of technology in the seaport sector in a modern and smart direction for enterprises in the province; making some important recommendations on policies for enterprises operating in the seaport sector; training facilities and some recommendations for the association.

Based on the research, the research team also proposed 3 core contents for the province to apply and develop into commercial products, such as: Market potential; ability to apply research results into production and business and ability to form joint ventures with enterprises in the process of researching and deploying product applications.

At the conclusion of the acceptance session, the Provincial Science and Technology Council highly appreciated the efforts of the project manager and affirmed that the research results achieved the set goals. The acceptance council voted to accept the project as Excellent.
