TCIT Welcomes First Ship of New Service Route – Enhancing Competitiveness for Export Goods

(HQ Online) – The first vessel of the new ZSL/PELICAN service route, operated by shipping lines ZIM and MSC, has arrived at Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Port (TCIT), offering optimal connectivity solutions for businesses and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s export goods.

On February 8, 2025, TCIT hosted the welcoming ceremony for the first vessel of the ZSL/PELICAN service route, operated by ZIM and MSC. This is a significant event, marking a new phase in the cooperation between TCIT and leading global shipping companies like MSC and ZIM, providing optimal transportation solutions and contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s export goods.
At the event, Mr. Kim Jong Eup, General Director of TCIT, emphasized: “We are honored that TCIT was chosen as the destination for the new service route by ZIM and MSC in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai area. This cooperation affirms TCIT’s operational capacity, professional services, and demonstrates our shared commitment to delivering superior solutions, focusing on customer-centric development, sustainability, and environmental protection.”

Mr. Fernando De La Rosa, General Director of ZIM (Vietnam), shared: “Today marks an important milestone in ZIM’s journey in Vietnam, showcasing our agility and strong market connections—core values embedded in ZIM’s DNA. We are delighted to introduce this service route at TCIT, offering a direct link from southern Vietnam to the US Gulf market. We believe this service will positively impact trade between Vietnam and the United States, bringing tangible benefits to our customers while continually improving the efficiency of our operations and those of our partners.”
The ZSL/PELICAN service route is operated by 12 vessels from ZIM and MSC, including the M/V Ningbo, owned by ZIM, with a gross tonnage of 108,574 tons, a length of 334 meters, and a capacity of up to 8,440 TEUs. This is one of the highest-performing vessels in its segment, enhancing shipping capacity and optimizing costs for customers.

This event also reflects the continuous efforts of TCIT and other units within Tan Cang Sai Gon Corporation to develop a robust regional connection system in the Southern Key Economic Region, contributing to the direct connectivity of Vietnam’s goods with major global markets such as Europe and North America.
With this new service route, Tan Cang Sai Gon Corporation hopes to continue fostering new collaboration opportunities, providing better solutions for customers, and making a positive contribution to the development of the port and logistics industry in Vietnam.
